Shots — Screenshot Inbox · Effective August 2, 2026

The short version: your screenshots are read on your iPhone and never leave it. Shots has no accounts, no server of its own, and nothing to log into.

Your screenshots

Shots reads the Screenshots album of your photo library — never your camera roll or other albums — using Apple’s on-device text recognition. The images, the text found inside them, and everything Shots derives from them are processed and stored only on your device. Screenshot content is never uploaded, transmitted, or shared with anyone, including us.

What does leave your device

• Anonymous usage events. Shots sends anonymized product analytics (for example, “a scan completed” or “a card was kept”) with a random device identifier to PostHog, our analytics provider. These events never contain screenshot content, images, text extracted from images, or anything that identifies you.
• Purchase information. If you subscribe to Shots Pro, Apple processes the payment and a purchase receipt is validated by RevenueCat, our subscription infrastructure provider, under a random anonymous identifier. We never see your payment details.

What we never collect

No name, no email, no contacts, no location, no advertising identifiers, no tracking across apps. We don’t sell data — there is nothing to sell.

Permissions Shots asks for

• Photos — to read your screenshots. This is the only permission Shots needs to work.
• Calendar and Reminders — only used at the moment you tap “Add” or “Remind me.”
• Notifications — optional; used for event nudges, a weekly digest, and a reminder before a trial converts.

Deleting your data

Everything Shots stores lives on your device: delete the app and it’s gone. Analytics events are anonymous and cannot be traced back to you. To manage subscriptions, use your App Store account settings.
